The Malaysian Ceylonese Congress (MCC) is a political party in Malaysia. Formed in 1958, the MCC was established as a political party with the aim of giving support to the then Alliance party. MCC has continuously supported the Barisan National. MCC was the brainchild of the late Mr. M.W Navaratnam and was formed to promote and preserve the Political, Educational, Social and Cultural aspects of the Malaysians of Ceylonese origin, or Sri Lankan, descent. To date (6) presidents have held office since 1958. Mr M.W Navaratnam (1958–1969), Senator Tan Sri Dr. C. Sinnadurai (1970–1983), Tan Sri Dato' Seri V. Jeyaratnam (1983–1987), Dato Dr N. Arumugasamy (1988–1995), Datuk Dr. D.M. Thuraiapah (1996–2003 and Dato' Dr NKS Tharmaseelan (2004–Present)

Today MCC makes its way in this ever changing globe under the dynamic leadership of Dato' NKS Tharmaseelan. Together with the efforts of the Secretary General, Mr.Vijayakone Thanigasalam, after 50 years of hibernation, MCC has come out of its cocoon and has now become visible to the world through the effective use of technology. It must also be noted that it was only on 27 February 2009 that MCC was registered with the Malaysian Elections Commission(SPR)On 20 April 2009, after 50 years, MCC was registered with the Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Malaysia as a Political party and is now listed in the SPR website as one of the 29 registered political parties in Malaysia. On 26 April 2011 SPR appointed Mr. Vijayakone A/L Thanigasalam, Secretary General, MCC, as Penolong Pendaftar Pemilih, Wakil Politik. On 1 July 2011, The Registrar of Societies Malaysia approved MCC's official Flag. The Flag of the Malaysian Ceylonese Congress is made up of the MCC Logo at the center of a white background. The white background represents the purity and Quality of the Congress.

The Vision and Mission of the MCC are as follows:- • To uphold the supremacy of the Constitution of Malaysia and abide by the Rukun Negara. • To promote and maintain inter-racial goodwill and harmony for a united and indivisible Malaysian nation. • To strive for and promote the social and economic advancement and the national solidarity of people of all races in Malaysia. • To safeguard and promote the political, economical, educational, social and cultural interests of Malaysian Ceylonese. • To seek representation in both Houses of Parliament, State Legislative Assemblies and other bodies and to represent, express and give to the legitimate aspirations of the Malaysian Ceylonese. • To facilitate and promote co-operation with other organizations whose objective and aims are similar to those stipulated in MCC’s Constitution. • To encourage, develop co-operative activities and establish an educational foundation for the benefit of its members. • Generally to do all such acts and things as may conduce to the furtherance of all or any of the objectives of the MCC as stipulated in the MCC’s Constitution.

The MCC Logo

(i) The Shape of the Logo is a circle with nine radiating rays and five horizontal rays forming its outline (ii) The Logo symbolizes the Morning Sun in the shape of a Half –sphere, (the white area in the middle) with the abbreviation MCC Est 1958 printed in Blue in the center of the Sun. The Sun rises above the Horizon of the Sea with its rays in the sky and their reflection on the surface of the Sea, (represented by the parallel Red lines below) (iii) Each of the Nine Rays in Red from the morning sun represents One State of the Federated Malay States (iv) Each of the Five horizontal Rays on the surface of the sea represent the States of Penang, Malacca, Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territories. (v) Meaning of each part of the Logo: (a) “MCC Est. 1958” printed in the center of the Sun symbolizes Unity within the Congress. (b) The rays symbolize the Influence of the Congress in the Nation (Malaysia). (c) The rays also symbolize the growth of the Congress together with the Nation since Merdeka. (d) The abbreviation “MCC Est 1958” printed in Blue against the white sun represents Purity and Quality of the Congress
