Dunmore (Shellharbour) is a CityRail railway station on the South Coast railway line. It serves the suburb of Dunmore as well as being an indirect rail link to the suburb of Shellharbour. When the station was built, opening on 9 November 1887,[1] Shellharbour was a long way from the railway line, but has since grown and now borders the line.

Dunmore (Shellharbour) is listed on the NSW State Heritage Register, on RailCorp's Section 170 Register as a Heritage Item and on the Shellharbour Local Environment Plan as and item of Environmental Heritage [2]

A new station (Flinders) is under construction to serve the growing area. Preliminary works commenced in 2011 and the station is expected to open in 2014.[3]

Platforms and services

The station has two side platforms- one on the main line and one on a passing loop, and is often used as a passing point for trains of the opposing direction to cross each other. The second platform was opened in 2001 as part of the extension of electrification to Kiama.[4] One of the side platforms can accommodate 4 V-Set carriages, the other only 2 V-Set Carriages.
