History
Dumbleton railway station opened on 23 December 1931 as part of the single-track non-electrified line between Kingsgrove and Herne Bay (now Riverwood). It was renamed Beverly Hills in 1940[3]. In 1939, the line through Beverly Hills was electrified and it was duplicated in 1948. Beverly Hills is unique amongst original East Hills Line stations as it is the only station with asymmetrical platforms, that is, the up platform (platform 1: towards Sydney) is curved but the down platform (platform 2: away from Sydney) is straight. It was one of the last stations in Sydney to use Edmondson-style paper tickets[4]. In the early 2000s, a lift to street level and a covered walkway from the stairs to the station building were added, providing Easy Access for wheelchairs. The station is on the State Register as a Heritage Item.
