Dr. Burra Narsaiah Goud also known by names Dr. B. Narsaiah or Boora Narsaiah (March 2, 1959) is a renowned and self taught Laproscopic, Obesity and Gastrointestinal Surgeon from Andhra Pradesh, India. He is regarded as one of the poineer in laproscopy in india when it was confined to few centers in western world. He is credited with more than 20,000 laproscopic surgeries in both onco and bariatic surgeries.

He is currently the director of Hyderabad Institute of Laproendoscopic Surgery (HILS) and provides services at Aditya Hospital ^[1] and Care Hospital in Andhra Pradesh. He is the founding chairman of Boora Laxmaiah and Rajamma(BLR) foundation to provide free laproscopic infertility services for childless couples.^[2] He is also credited for spreading awareness of laproscopic surgery in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh.

Early life

Born on at Suryapet of Nalgonda district in Andhra Pradesh of India to Smt. Burra Rajamma and Sri Burra Laxmaiah Goud. He did his M.B.B.S and M.S in General Surgery from Osmania University in 1987 with first class and distinction. He is married.

Professional career

He started as a civil assistant surgeon and a laproscopic incharge between 1987 and 1990 in Mahbubnagar. He is credited to be distinct from many surgeons for having developed laproscopy on his own from 1987 in tribal areas like amangal village of Mahbubnagar district when laproscopy was confined to few centres in advanced western countries. He then worked as assistant professor of surgery in Osmania Medical College between 1991 and 1995. Right from 1996, he started his own private service.

As a general surgeon, he is credited for routine surgeries like appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernias, incisional hernia, thyrodectomies, laparotomies, spleenectomy, colectomies, liver cysts, hysterectomies, tubectomies, radical hysterectomies and piles . He is also credited for advanced procedures in surgeries like Whipples surgery, Spleeno-renal shunts in portal hyper tension, Liver resection, Adrenal Surgery and Esophago Gastrectomies.

As a Laproscopic surgeon, he is credited for more than 21,000 surgeries in digestive surgery, gyneac surgery, urology, paediatric surgery, and thoracic surgery.

Apart from these, he is also credited for being the first person to spread awareness of laproscopic surgery in villages, and tribal areas of andhra pradesh. He is the first surgeon to start advanced laproscopic surgeries in incisional hernia, hiatus hernia, carcinoma colon, cancer cervix in Hyderabad. He is also the first person to do thoracosopic decompression for T.B spine in Hyderabad.

He conducted more than 30 laproscopic workshops ,^[3] presented several papers at world congress of laproscopic surgery in Singapore and also credited for presenting several papers at state and national surgical forums.

He also gives training to gyneacologists and general surgeons at Hyderabad institute of laproendoscopic surgery at Aditya Super Speciality Hospital and at Department of Minimal Access and Robotic Surgery at Care Hospitals.
