KennyDom is an American indie rock band hailing from Worcester, Massachusetts.[1]
With fuzzy low-fi distortion and broken Casio keyboard lines, Dom filters a DIY aesthetic through the upbeat, sunny rhythms of pop music. The band was formed in January 2010 by Dom and drummer Bobby after writing the song, 'Jesus'. They added bassist Erik and recorded their first 7 song EP, Sun Bronzed Greek Gods by March 2010 in Erik’s bedroom using a pink paisley guitar, a Casio keyboard and Fruity Loops.[1] The band's current lead guitarist is Kenny Brown.
The group led in nominations at the 2010 Boston Music Awards for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist, taking home Song of The Year for their song, "Living in America".[2] The Sun Bronzed Greek Gods EP made many Best of 2010 Lists, including Pitchfork Media's Staff Picks: Best Albums of 2010 and Spin's 20 Best Songs of Summer. The group later went on to collaborate with rapper Gucci Mane and supported Ratatat on a North American Tour.[3]
Dom teamed up with Cults on a one-off single produced by Passion Pits Ayad Al Adhamy and released by Black Bell Records in February 2011.
In August 2011, Dom released Family of Love EP. Produced by Nicolas Vernhes (Animal Collective, Björk), the EP made the Top 10 College Radio chart September 2011.[4][5][6] The band played Lollapalooza 2011, receiving critical acclaim and was asked by Perry Farrell, the festival founder to open for Jane's Addiction.
