Diego Maurício (born June 25, 1991 in Rio de Janeiro), nicknamed Drogbinha (Little Drogba), is a Brazilian football striker. He was formed in the Flamengo youth system and has been recently promoted to the professional team. Recently he's been shopped around with interests from Red Star Belgrade and mainly Shaktar Donetsk which offered € 5 million for the player, but the offer has been declined as Flamengo's president, Patricia Amorim, stated that talks would only be initiated with a € 6 million offer.[1]

Career

After working in the club's youth team with coach Rogério Lourenço for several years, in 2010 he got promoted to the professional team by the same coach. He debuted for Flamengo on May 23, 2010 in a 3-1 win against Grêmio Prudente, at Maracanã Stadium, as a substitute and suffered a penalty in the final minutes. It is considered a great promise of the club, a player with good physical size and skill, many compare it to Didier Drogba, fans fondly call the New Drogba or Drogbinha.[2]

Diego scored his first professional goal on July 21, 2010 in a 1-1 draw against Avaí, at Maracanã Stadium.[3][4]
