Originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round (143rd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft; Waived by the Cowboys at the end of training camp on September 5, 2009;
First stint with Cleveland Browns
Claimed by the Cleveland Browns via waivers on September 6, 2009; Waived by the Browns on September 16, 2009;
Detroit Lions
On November 18, 2009 the Detroit Lions signed Smith off the Chicago Bears practice squad.
Smith was waived on April 27, 2010.
Second stint with Cleveland Browns
Smith was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns on April 28, 2010. He spent one week with the Browns during the 2010 regular season and was waived on September 15. He was re-signed to the Browns practice squad on October 7.
