Scott M. Paxson (born February 3, 1983 in city-state|Philadelphia|Pennsylvania) is an American football defensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. He was signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at Penn State. Paxson has also been a member of the Green Bay Packers.

Early years

He attended Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

College career

Paxson was named All-Big Ten Conference following his senior season at Penn State University. He majored in crime, law and justice.

Professional career

First stint with Steelers

He signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers shortly after the 2006 NFL draft, but was released during the preseason.

Green Bay Packers

He spent several weeks with the Green Bay Packers during the 2006 regular season.

Personal

Paxson was charged with assault following a December 2004 incident in which he was accused of forcing himself on a female student. A more serious charge of sexual assault was thrown out by Centre County, Pennsylvania Judge Bradley P. Lunsford in April 2006. Paxson has declared his intention to sue the Centre County District Attorney's Office following the outcome of the case, citing the hundreds of thousands of dollars he lost when his stock as a prospect in the 2006 NFL Draft plummeted.
