Dawn Avery is a Mohawk cellist, vocalist, and composer. She studied with John Cage. She appeared on the 1998 Grammy-nominated Christmas album, Breath of Heaven [1] by Grover Washington Jr.. She is a member of Taagi, Three Sides, a Native classical trio with percussionist Steven Alvarez and violinist Tara-Louise Montour [2].
