Club career
Born in Naples, Campania, Danilo along with his twin brother Dario joined Fiorentina Primavera team in 2005[1] after the bankrupt of Campania side Salernitana. He started to play as a midfielder.
In January 2008, Danilo graduated from the U20 youth team and joined Serie C1 side Potenza in co-ownership deal. In June 2008 he was bought back by La Viola and joined Lega Pro Prima Divisione side Juve Stabia in another co-ownership deal (at first a loan and turned to co-own deal in January).[2] At Juve Stabia, he also played as midfielder.[3] In June 2009, he was bought outright by Juve Stabia.
In January 2010, he joined Torino of Serie B in co-ownership deal to reinforce the squad[4] which some of Toro players had made a transfer request after they were attacked by ultra.
International career
On 11 August 2010, D'Ambrosio made his debut with the Italy U-21 team in a friendly match against Denmark.
