Mixed martial arts career
Early career
Tabera is an M-1 Global veteran, having competed seven times for the promotion. Tabera currently holds a 4–1–2 record in the promotion, with his one loss coming at the hands of Roman Zentsov via decision.[1] Outside of M-1, Tabera has also competed in Shooto and had an early stint in Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki, where he drew with Mamed Khalidov.[1] Tabera is currently the only man to have held Gilbert Yvel to a draw.[2]
Bellator season one tournament
Tabera then joined Bellator Fighting Championships and entered their season one middleweight tournament. His opening round opponent was Jared Hess at Bellator 4. Midway through the first round, Tabera gave up his back to Hess who was reigning down with multiple punches. Hess would go on to lock in a rear naked choke to force Tabera to submit, eliminating him from the tournament.[3]
Tabera was then released and went on to defeat two successive opponents (one via decision, one via submission) in separate promotions.[1]
Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki tournament
Tabera then entered the 209 lb (Light Heavyweight) KSW tournament. His quarter-final opponent was Grigor Aschugbabjan. Tabera claimed the majority decision victory to move onto the semi-final the same night. From here, he defeated Attila Vegh via kneebar with just three seconds remaining in the first round.[4] This marked the second time that Tabera had faced more than one opponent on the same night.[1]
He then faced the Pole (and two-time KSW tournament winner) Jan Błachowicz in the Light Heavyweight Tournament Final at KSW XIV.[4] Tabera lost the fight via TKO in the second round.
ADCC Championships
In 2009 Tabera participated in the ADCC Barcelona competioncion where he faced Chris Weidman, in a match that in which the Spanish fighter lost by points.
