The first series of Dancing on Ice began on ITV1 on Saturday, January 14, 2006 presented by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, and judged by 'The Ice Panel', consisting of Nicky Slater, Karen Kresge, Jason Gardiner, Karen Barber and Robin Cousins. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean helped to train the aspiring dancers, and also appeared throughout the show with comments and advice.

  • Comedian Arabella Weir was due to take part but when she broke her wrist she was forced to withdraw. She was later replaced by actress Bonnie Langford.
  • Former butler Paul Burrell was also part of the original line-up, but was replaced by David Seaman just eight days before the first live show, due to concerns over his skating ability.
