The game was officially unveiled at Konami's E3 2010 press conference, exclusively for Xbox 360 Kinect.[1] The game was released in November 2010. When describing the game, Naoki Maeda, the producer of Dance Evolution and of the Dance Dance Revolution series, stated that "this is real dancing."
Dance Evolution has 30 tracks, including hip hop, R&B, pop, eurobeat and dance, and will be supported with additional songs as downloadable content.
An arcade port has been announced and begun beta-testing in Japan from September 24-25, 2011. It has mostly the same Konami Original as the original, but the licenses has been replaced with japanese licenses. A spin-off, BOOM BOOM DANCE has also been recently announced on September 15, 2011 in Japan.

Gameplay
Gameplay requires the player to copy the on-screen character's dance while hitting certain spots with their hands, drawing lines in the air, stepping on the beat and striking poses (much like a full-body version of Elite Beat Agents). Only hitting the on-screen markers counts toward your grade (unlike Dance Central, which demands full-body move matching). There is a lesson mode that explains the basic mechanics and the main dance mode. Offline games support 2 players simultaneously and online modes support up to 4 players. Each song in dance mode has 4 levels of difficulty:
- LIGHT: 1 or 2 markers per bar; STEP RIPPLES, POSING, and occasional STREAMS
- STANDARD: 1 or 2 markers per bar; basically STEP RIPPLES and POSING, with moderate NORMAL RIPPLES, FRONT RIPPLES, ROCK RIPPLES and STREAMS
- EXTREME: 2 or more markers per bar; eighth markers will appear; all types of RIPPLES will appear
- MASTER:Only on DLC. Harder than EXTREME
- STEALTH: Hardest of all! EXTREME mode with the markers OFF screen; just follow the model's movement![2]
It should be noted that the official para para routines for the eurobeat/Konami original songs were used for their respective songs.
