The album was released in July 1998 by Ignition Records. The band and Paul Crook produced the album, which includes the single "Inside Out". Other singles released were "Crush", "P & V" and "Born Again Idiot". Volume 8: The Threat Is Real debuted at #118 on the Billboard 200 charts. The song Crush appears in the video game ATV Offroad Fury for PlayStation 2 and in the game's soundtrack.
