Craig Hill is an Australian writer, and winner of the Vodafone World of Difference Award in 2006. He is also known as a social worker, particularly for his work with the homeless, marginalised and with Indigenous Australians (Aboriginals).
He was the author of "Postcards From The Fringe" in Big Issue magazine, a national magazine sold by homeless people to help them support themselves. These stories dealt with real people overcoming adversity to make positive changes in their lives. He also wrote profiles on the street vendors for Big Issue magazine, telling their life stories and how they ended up living on the streets.[1]
He has written a variety of articles for a variety of publications, including the National Indigenous Times and The Koori Mail, Australia's two major national Indigenous newspapers, as well as local newspapers and magazines. He also has over 5,000 articles on the Internet, dealing with many different topics.
His past writing has dealt mainly with homelessness, mental illness, marginalisation and Aboriginal Reconciliation, though he also has a keen interest in politics and travel. He has also appeared in newspaper, radio and television interviews addressing these issues.
Mr Hill has travelled and worked with the homeless in Australia, China, United States, Indonesia, Thailand and Fiji. He spent several years living and teaching English and Life Skills on Aboriginal communities in outback Australia, a year touring China and teaching English, and six months in Hawaii examining the social and racial issues affecting homelessness there.[2]
He currently lives in Nantong, China.
