History
On June 24, 2010, the National Premier Soccer League introduced[1] Club Corpus Christi Fuel as the thirty-sixth team to join the league and the third team from Texas (Regals FC being the first, Galveston Pirate SC being the second). Pirate SC, Regals FC, Corpus Christi, and FC Tulsa would have made up the Texas Division[2] of the National Premier Soccer League.
The Fuel began the franchise history in dismal fashion, losing 8 straight games to begin the 2010-11 season with a negative 30 goal differential.
Change of league
The team originally intended to play in the inaugural 2010–2011 NPSL Winter season that would have begun in October 2010 and continued into March 31, 2011. When that league was postponed[3], the team instead became one of the founder members of the Southern Premier Soccer League.[4]
