It was created from the breakup of Companhia Energética de São Paulo in 1999. In November 2001, incorporates the Empresa Paulista de Transmissão de Energia Elétrica, derived from the breakup of Eletropaulo Metropolitana - Eletricidade Sao Paulo SA, resulting thus in a much larger company.
CTEEP is the main private concessionaire of the transmission of electrical energy, for transmission of 30% of all electricity produced in Brazil, which is almost 100% of the State of São Paulo.
With installed capacity of 43,069 MVA, is present in 12 Brazilian States - Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goias, Tocantins, Maranhão and Piauí - with a infrastructure made up of 12,140 kilometers of transmission lines, 18,495 kilometers of circuits, 1,955 kilometers of fiber optic cables and 102 substations with voltage up to 550 KV.
Headquartered in São Paulo, the Company has five regional, all municipalities located in São Paulo (São Paulo, Cabreúva, Taubaté, Bauru and Jupiá), a Transmission Operation Center (TOC) in Jundiaí, and a Center Operating Rear of (COR) in Cabreúva.
Since June 2006, the CTEEP is controlled by the Colombian company ISA, which acquired 50.1% of its shares for auction sponsored by the Government of the State of São Paulo in BM&F Bovespa and today, holds 89.40 % of the voting paper, equivalent to 37.5% of the total capital of CTEEP.
