Forgues, born in 1980 in Massachusetts, attended the Art Institute of Boston and Massachusetts College of Art in the late 1990s and early 2000s.[1] Following graduation from Mass Art, Forgues moved to Providence and joined the burgeoning art and music scene centered around Fort Thunder, a warehouse art and music venue. Active in Providence at the time were Load Records, Brian Chippendale, Matt Brinkman, and many others.

Kites is the name taken by Christopher Forgues for his musical projects. Kites has released more than ten self-produced tapes, three full-lengths, and one split record (with Prurient) on Load Records, as well as two mini-CDs, one on the Mountain Collective and the other on Chrondritic Sound. Kites has toured the United States several times. He has also appeared in Europe and Canada.

Kites employs homemade electronics, effects pedals, and altered acoustic instruments to make music most often classified as noise. Forgues' music sometimes incorporates elements of folk, and unlike many noise projects, many of his songs are not improvised. Comparisons have been made to Amps for Christ and Hair Police. More recently, Forgues has performed in the band "Daily Life" was well as a new solo project called "Mark Lord."

Forgues goes by C.F. in the art world. He has been self-publishing his comic Low Tide since the late 1990s. His graphic novel series, Powr Mastrs, is published by Picturebox, Inc. His story "Mosfet Warlock and the Mechlin Man" was included in The Best American Comics 2009 edited by Charles Burns.
