Background
The album is Bublé's second Christmas-themed release, after he released a five-track EP in 2003 entitled Let It Snow. Some of the songs from Let It Snow have been re-recorded for inclusion on Christmas, making Christmas his first full-length holiday release. For the album, Bublé teamed up with several well-known artists to record duets. He recorded a version of "White Christmas" with country music singer Shania Twain,[6] and teamed up with Latin star Thalía for a recording of "Feliz Navidad".[7] Bublé has also recorded covers of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You", traditional songs "Jingle Bells" and "Blue Christmas", and a brand new track, "Cold December Night", written with his longtime co-writer Alan Chang,[8] and producer Bob Rock.
Promotion
Bublé will promote the album in the United States with an NBC TV special entitled A Michael Bublé Christmas,[9] a show is being produced by Ben Silverman and being televised in December,[10] and will also appear on The X Factor in the United Kingdom for a special performance in the final.[11] The album's tracklisting was unveiled by Bublé on September 27, 2011.[12]
Chart performance and sales
Christmas debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 in the United States, with first-week sales of 141,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan.[4] In its third chart week, the album climbed to a new peak position of number two on the Billboard 200, accumulating 123,000 copies of additional sales for a total of 353,000 copies sold since its release according to SoundScan.[5][13]
