Chiharu Igaya (1956)Men's Alpine skiing Competitor for Japan Silver 1956 Cortina Slalom World Championships Bronze 1958 Bad Gastein Slalom Chiharu Igaya (猪谷 千春 Igaya Chiharu , born May 20, 1931) is a Japanese alpine skier who competed in the 1952 Winter Olympics, in the 1956 Winter Olympics, and in the 1960 Winter Olympics.
He was born in Tomari, Hokkaidō and educated at Dartmouth College, from which he graduated in 1957.
In 1952 he finished eleventh in the Olympic Alpine slalom event. In the giant slalom competition he finished 20th and in the downhill contest he finished 24th.
Four years later he won the silver medal in the 1956 Olympic slalom event. In the giant slalom competition he finished eleventh. He also participated in the Olympic downhill race but did not finish.
At the 1960 Games he finished twelfth in the slalom event, 23rd in the giant slalom competition, and 34th in the downhill contest.
