Chhoti Si Zindagi is an Indian television series that airs on Zee TV based on the lives of two orphan girls, Isha & Ira.^[1] The series is produced by J.D. Majethia's Hats Off Productions and has been shot in several areas in Northern India like Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh.^[2] The series premiered on April 4, 2011 and stars known Indian television actors Pavan Malhotra & Sushmita Mukherjee.^[3]

Plot

The story portrays the lives of two orphan girls, Isha & Ira who do not give up despite facing many hardships in life. Their mother has died and now they must fend for themselves. Later, their father has to give them up because he is marrying someone else. They must now live in an orphanage. Now they are living in the orphanage with Devki massi and Bhola (Gabbar). At first the kids don't like them because they escaped and they had to starve. But Isha comes back because Ira was sick and she sprained her leg. Devki is trying to separate Isha and Ira by telling Ira bad stuff about Isha. Also Isha finds out that Tinnu (boy who also escaped the orphanage and they helped him but got caught by Bhola) is in the darkroom and he had to starve because Tinnu helped Isha to escape. Meanwhile Vrinda (the in charge of everyone) hates Isha because she caused a lot of trouble for them. But one day when a guy name Arjun comes to deliver food, him and Vrinda meet. The become friends and Arjun writes Vrinda letters. They both fall in love. Bhola finds out and warns Vrinda. To get revenge Vrinda mixes spices in Bhola's breakfast. Bhola tells Devki and threatens Isha to tell the truth. Devki says that she will accept any condition if she says who did it. Isha takes the blame on her self and tells Devki to release Tinnu. Tinnu is really sick and he is bruised. Thakur and Fatima likes Isha now but Vrinda and Cutting are still upset. Thakur, Fatima and Isha tries to take care of Tinnu but it doesn't help. So they tell Vrinda to try to convince Devki to get a doctor. The doctor comes and cure Tinnu. Meanwhile Ira thinks that Isha don't love her anymore but that's not true. Arjun comes as a famous businessman that wants to adopt Vrinda. He talks to Vrinda alone and they both confess their love to each other. Bhola finds out that that man was Arjun and tells Devki. Devki tells her men to check all of Vrinda's belongings. A letter that Arjun gave to Vrinda fall out and Bhola see's this. While Devki is trying to get it Isha takes it and eat it. When she goes to beat Isha, Ira bites her arm. Devki is going to hit Ira bit Isha stops her. Isha tells her until she is here she will change her. Devki is embarrassed. So she leaves. Vrinda apologizes to Isha for being mean to her and they both are friends now. Outside Tinnu sees Bhola and Devki talking to a foreigner. After the foreigner leaves, Devki tells the kids that she is sorry and tells them that they could do whatever they want to. Tinnu suspects her and tells Isha and Vrinda about this. Isha follows Devki and Bhola and finds out that the foreigner is the owner of the biggest adoption center in America. He wants two little cute girls so he can take them to America and someone could adopt them. Devki wants to sell Ira and Chutki to the foreigner. Isha is shocked and tells this to Arjun, Vrinda and Tinnu. Now will they be able to save Ira and Chutki? When Devki is giving Ira and Chutki to the foreigner, there comes Chetna. When Devki sees her she kicks the foreigner out. Everyone wonders why is Devki acting like this. They think that Chetna will buy one of the kids. But Isha finds out that Chetna is real owner of the place. She is really nice to the kids and gives them new clothes, good food and new toys. On the day of Isha's birthday, Chetna arranges a party for her. But Isha, Tinnu, Vrinda and all the kids plan to get Devki and Bhola kicked out form the orphanage. They call in some people to buy a child. Chetna sees this and Devki blames it on Bhola. Bhola is kicked out. They all celebrate Isha's birthday and everyone is happy. Until one day Isha went to buy grocery's with Calender(the orphanages cook). She sees this guy asking everyone about an orphanage. She thinks he is a pickpocket. When he comes to Isha, they both drop their paper. Isha's paper had the groceries stuff on it and he has the address to the orphanage. They accidentally pick up the wrong paper and he follows her there. He comes to the orphanage and everyone finds out his name Samarth aka Sam. He came from America and is Chetna's grandson. He tells everyone to hide from Chetna for 2 days so Chetna doesn't send him back. Chetna finds out that Sam is missing because she gets a call from his mom saying he was supposed to go summer camp but he is not there. Chetna is really worried and Devki thinks it's a good opportunity to send Chetna back but Isha tells her truth. Sam is mad at Isha for telling Chetna the truth. Sam convinces Chetna to come back to America with him. She agrees. Everyone is upset and Devki is happy. Meanwhile Tinnu and Sam constantly fight a lot and argue. They both hate each other. Chetna borrows a baby from one of the guard and tells everyone she on the street and that until she is not adopted she won't go anywhere. Te kids are all happy. Chetna tell the truth to Isha only and that she did all this so Sam could become a responsible person. She assigns Isha, Tinnu and Sam to take care of the baby. Sam and Tinnu try to get along but they still fight. Sam is becoming a change person. Chetna is proud of Isha. Devki in the greed for money teams up with Sam's mother and burns the orphanage. This causes all of the kids to be separated from each other, even Isha and Ira. And then after 10 years Isha tries to find Ira with the help of Deviki (who is mental at this point of the plot).Isha works at a radio station as RJ Palak and has to go by the name Palak. Her only aim in joining the radio station is to find her sister, Ira. She hopes and prays Ira will listen to her and recognize her.

Ira grows up to be a rich and spoil brat. However, there is a humane side to her too. She grows up hating Isha as she believes her sister chose Kuhu over her.

Angry with her past, Ira erases all memories of her childhood and even assumes a new identity. She changes her name into Kajal Kaushal. However, destiny brings Isha and Ira together once again. Unaware of their shared past, the duo meet and become best friends, as Ira invites RJ Palak(Isha) for her 18th birthday and Isha finds it awkward as Kajal and Ira's birthday is on the same day. Everyone is partying until police come and arrest everyone at the party because there was something wrong going on .Palak doesn't get arrested because she was from the radio station and she helps Kajal by saying that she works there to.

Samarth Ojha returns to India after 10 yrs and goes to his radio station as a trainee so that he can find out who is manipulating his acounts. Sam meets Isha and but he does not know that she is Isha. Later on at the 10 year reunion they were supposed to have no one shows up. Sam was about to leave but before he leaves he hears someone calling his name. He finds out that Palak is actually Isha and slowly starts to fall in love with her. along with that Ira also befriends Sam(king Kong) and starts to fall in love with him.Samarth is now set to propose Isha and even buys a ring for her. Ira sees him doing this and thinks that the ring is for her, she rushes home and tells this to her parents her parents are worried because of her close friendship with Palak and are afraid that Ira will leave them for her. Palak talks about love Sam and Ira both are listening to her. she receives a call from a guy who is planning to commit suicide because the girl he loved left him. Isha rushes to find that guy and in the process of stopping him falls from the building herself but is then saved by Sam who followed her there. Sam then scolds her and drops her home. he then makes plans to propose to her. Ira' mom feels insecure because of her relation with Palak. Ira goes to meet Palak and thanks her for everything, Sam sends a letter to Isha which goes into he hand of Ira who becomes really happy on receiving it. the note asks her to meet him at diamond hotel. Isha also reads the note and is overjoyed. Sam is almost hit by a car when a mysterious guy saves him, after Sam leaves the guy calls someone and says that Sam will now owe hi his life and the guy will soon take it from him. Sam asks his secretary to book a table for him at the hotel. Palak overhears the secretary talking about some girl with whom Sam falls in love with and is planning to propose, the secretary also says that these type of girls take advantage of rich guys and live like princesses. this really upsets Isha. Now, Samarth organizes this lovely romantic dinner at a restaurant to propose to Isha. But after all the preparations he remembers Isha is a simple girl so he organizes a simple dinner and bought a simple ring. Then, Ira is getting all excited and is ready to go to the restaurant and she sees the ring Samarth bought at the store. After that, she starts walking and sees Samarth proposing to Isha. But, she does not know that is her own sister Isha neither does she know that, that is her best friend Palak. Isha agrees to marry Samarth and he puts the ring on her finger and Ira is shattered. Ira forgives Isha but turns out to join forces with Revathi Aunti to shatter Isha's heart like she shattered her heart and take Samarth away from her.A new character named Shravan saves Isha and turns out to love her, Tinnu gets sent to jail by Shravan. the wedding is almost called off when Revathi makes a plan to get Shravan and Isha trapped in a room but then Samarth finds out and severes ties with his mom. Shravan then gives Isha the letter he got saying to meet him there. When Isha sees that letter she sees the Crooked R in Samarth's name and starts to doubt Ira. Then the nanny comes. Then on the day of the wedding Ira tells Isha that the wedding Dress is one size smaller than Isha's size. After this Isha understands that Ira still loves Sam. Ira in Anger screams out that she hates Isha from the bottom of her heart and will always hate her. So to get rid of Ira's anger Isha makes her sit in her place next to Sam during the wedding. The wedding is done and someone screams STOP. When the groom hears this he puts sindoor on Ira. After this everyone is shocked to see that the groom is Shravan and teh bride is Ira. When Shravan takes his thing of the nanny comes and Slaps him say saving that he is her son. Then ISha and Sam get married and Ira and Shraavan are married. Ira gets the poor life and Isha ends up with the rich life. Sam And ISha's marriage is meaningless. ON KArva Chauth Shravan is about to make Isha drink the water but at that time the lights go on and Isha doesnot drink the water. When Sam is about to make Isha drink water a girl comes in and blames Sam for trying to rape her. The girl was hired by Ira to stop Sam from coming home and breaking Isha's fast, but she framed Sam for money. Isha proves Sam innocent and this improves their relation. On the way home Isha gets kidnapped by someone. Isha is found at the mansion. All the tensions between Sam and Isha are done and they are happy again. Isha has suddenly become brave and starts to punish Revathi and Ira for everything; makes them clean the house, cut the onions, puts bonus money for the workers in Ira's suitcase when they try to frame her for stealing it, records Ira tearing up Isha's passport to stop Sam and Isha from going on their honeymoon to Switzerland.
