The company was founded in 2008 by Cheryl Burke. [1] Burke is a main dancer on the popular ABC television program, Dancing with the Stars. She has won the dance competition twice and has been nominated for two Emmy awards for her work on the program. [2] Burke is also a senior dance instructor at the company. Currently, Cheryl Burke Dance owns three studios in California. [3]
Its flagship studio is located at 1830 17th Street, San Francisco, California in the Potrero Hill neighborhood. [4] Its building previously housed Metronome Ballroom,[5] a studio renowned in local San Francisco history. In 2009, Cheryl Burke Dance bought Starlite Ballroom, a popular dance studio in Sunnyvale, California. This Silicon Valley studio was relocated to Mountain View, California. A third studio has opened in Laguna Niguel, north of San Diego.

Cheryl Burke Dance offers a wide range of dance classes. It is fully staffed with champion dance instructors with both private and group class formats.
