Plot
Aryan is an tale of underworld battle and emotional family bonds starring Mohanlal in the lead role, supported by Ramya Krishnan, Sharat Saxena, Shobana, Sreenivasan, M. G. Soman, Gavin Packard, Goga Kapoor and Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair.
Summary
Mohanlal (Deva Narayanan) is a Brahmin priest, who has to look after the entire family. He is in love with Shobana but her father M.G.Soman is against their relationship. So Soman falsely accuses Mohanlal, the theft of "Temple thiruvabharana" and forces him to leave his village in Kerala. He reaches Bombay where he gets shelter from Balan.K.Nair and family, who runs a tea shop. Monisha is the daughter of Balan.K.Nair. Some turn of events draws Mohanlal into the underworld and he becomes the trusted aide of the ageing don Kareem (Goga Kapoor). Ramya Krishnan working for the same gang gets closer to Mohanlal. Jhonny, from the same gang join hands together with rival don ( Sharat Saxena ) and Kareem is killed alongwith his son and daughter-in-law, Monisha. Now Sharat Saxena plans to leave Bombay, but Mohanlal gets him arrested. The climax shows whether Sharat Saxena and Jhonny takes revenge on Mohanlal, whether lal clears his name from false accusation of "Temple thiruvabharana", whether Ramya Krishnan and Mohanlal unites ?

Reception
Aryan was a huge blockbuster at box office. Priyadarshan' s 3 movies Vellanakalude Nadu, Aryan and Chithram released within a span of 4 months, became blockbusters.
Remake
Aryan was later remade in Tamil as Dravidan by Suresh Balaje starring Sathyaraj, but flopped.
