Gregory Deck owned a large portion of Long Beach which he bought back in the early 1930's. Over the years, his property was divided into lots and sold. The property where St Theresa's Roman Catholic was actually donated to the church and a parish built for the summer residence. Gregory Deck, at one time, had planned to develop the area adding streets, parks and homes north of Lakeshore Road but due to illness that never came to fruition. To this day, some of his grandchildren and great grandchildren still reside in Long Beach.
While Long Beach's history may seem otherwise uneventful, it is rumored that
Credence Clearwater Revival played a show at 'The Cove' in Long Beach in 1968. The Cove is a Bar/Night Club that opened in the 1960s in Long Beach. It was the only bar located on the beach until it burned down in the early 1980s. The Cove reopened in 1999 under new management and has changed hands several times since. The Cove has had limited success since its reopening.
