zone=Dublin/Pleasanton (also and originally known as East Dublin/Pleasanton [http://www.pleasantonweekly.com/news/show_story.php?id=849 Pleasanton OKs 350-unit apartment complex near BART-Stoneridge] , by Jeb Bling, Pleasanton Weekly, September 19, 2008, access date 23, Sep. 2008] ) is a
Bay Area Rapid Transit station on the border of Dublin and Pleasanton. The station is fed by twenty local and regional bus lines from five different providers. The station consists of an
island platform located in the center median of Interstate 580. Parking lots for the station are located on both sides of the freeway. It is somewhat unique in that trains travel down a long, somewhat rural stretch of Interstate 580 between Castro Valley and Dublin to get to the station. Another unique feature is that it has transit service to the city of Modesto, over 55 miles (89 km) away. Local bus service is provided by WHEELS. Connection to ACE's Pleasanton station is available through WHEELS route 54.Service at this station began on
May 10 ,1997 . [ [http://www.bart.gov/docs/BARThistory.pdf BART history] from official website]The station was originally supposed to be called "East" Dublin/Pleasanton and was shown as so on maps, this was to differentiate between the
West Dublin/Pleasanton station which was planned but whose construction did not begin until 2007. However the station will keep its current name when the "west" station opens in 2009.The station is served by
All Nighter bus service between midnight and the beginning of service in the morning.Amtrak 'sThruway Motorcoach California Route 6 stops at this station.Altamont Commuter Express (ACE), a DMU commuter rail service that runs between Stockton and San Jose runs though areas near the station in Pleasanton and is considering a direct connection from the Pleasanton ACE station. A transit-oriented development is currently under construction at the Dublin/Pleasanton station. The development includes housing, retail, and a new BART parking garage on the Dublin side of the station.
