rock group from Marietta, Georgia,United States .Band History:
Formed in January 2002, "Mandrake Theory" began with founding members
Ryan Yunker (vocals and guitar),David Ljung (guitar),Josh Markham (drums), andBen Hopper (bass). However, at this time the group was not called Mandrake Theory - they were known as 'Full Confession'. Practicing at least five days a week inRyan Yunker's family's garage, the four cranked out songs and perfected their skills as musicians. In 2004, they changed their name to "XeRo". With this name changed, Yunker gave the reigns of singing lead over to longtime friend and neighbor,Danny Helms . A summer show with Danny's other band,InElement , marked the final show for bassist Ben Hopper. The band brought in bassistRoss Arney that fall, and wrote even more. Sometime during that fall, they changed the name once again to "Flipcide" (sometimes spelled" Fl!pcide"). That winter, "Flipcide" entered Virtuo Studios and recorded a 5-song EP. In early 2005, Markham became the next to leave the group. They brought inLogan Kirsten , a longtime friend of Ross' and he filled the spot with flying colors. Early that summer, dealing with working and scheduling issues, the band was unwillingly forced to part ways with Helms and brought in vocalistTrey Dunn . They played a series of shows over the rest of 2005, and that October officially changed the name to "The Mandrake Theory". In early 2006, Dunn left the band and the four continued to write the music they loved and searched for a singer that would be "the one".
That summer, after various auditions, they came acrossCandice Vermillion throughmyspace . They had her over and were very intrigued by the different touch a female vocalist put upon their music as opposed to a male vocalist. They quickly brought her in and introduced her to the songs. That summer, former vocalist Danny Helms had joined Atlanta band,Crazy Anglos . On August 12, 2006, "Mandrake Theory" was able to get on the bill for a big hometown show with the "Crazy Anglos" in their hometown of Marietta. It was Vermillion's very first time on stage, and they stuck her in front of a packed house of 600+ potential fans. Nailing it, that show kicked off what would become a great next year for the band.
"Mandrake Theory" played many shows over the rest of 2006 and was able to get some tracks with Candice Vermillion done in Virtuo Studios. They continued to play in 2007, and were one of the pioneering feature bands on the website,VIMBY .
Near the conclusion of 2007, "Mandrake Theory" mutually decided they had had a good run and that it was time to disband and move on, whatever "moving on" would prove to be. Guitarist Ryan Yunker soon after formedAlmost Kings withBryan Bozeman andKevin Compton of the "Crazy Anglos", and also former vocalist and "Crazy Anglos" bassist Danny Helms.Members
