- Greek letters used in English text
Graphic designers sometimes employ faux Greek or pseudo-Greek typography to evoke Greece or Greeks by replacing Latin letters with Greek letters resembling them in appearance.
By far the most common substitution is Σ (sigma) for "E", though sometimes "Δ" (delta) is used for "D", and Θ (theta) or Ω (omega) for "O".
This effect is usually restricted to text set in all caps, as lowercase Greek letters do not resemble Latin letters.
