It handles national and international air traffic of the city of San Miguel, Cozumel, receiving thousands of tourists all year.
As with the other 9 airports in the Mexican southeast region, Cozumel International Airport is operated by the "Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste" (ASUR) Airport Group.
In 2003, the terminal was renovated and expanded. The airport is equipped with 6 boarding gates[1].
In 2010, the airport handled 438,832 passengers.
