The Federal Technical University of Paraná (Portuguese: "Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná", shortened UTFPR), formelly known as Federal Center of Technical Education of Paraná (Portuguese: "Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica do Paraná", shortened CEFET-PR), is a public university with campuses in eleven cities of the Brazilian state of Parana.

History

It was the first federal school of technology to held the status of 'University of Technology' in Brazil, created by the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in October 7, 2005. The university was created by transforming "Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica do Paraná", which existed since 1909 into an university. UTFPR also acts as a technical high school (the best of Paraná, according the Brazilian educational index ENEM).
