History

The Montenegrin Party was founded in 2008 and was registered as a political party in the Serbian Ministry of Justice on 22 February 2008, becoming the first official Serbian political party to represent the Montenegrin minority in Serbia.

On 28 October 2008, the party held the Founding parliament of its municipal board for the Serbian municipality of Prokuplje. The Prokuplje Municipal Board of the Montenegrin Party will represent the Montenegrin minority of the municipality for the first time, as well as its interests and rights at local and federal levels. Delegates secretly voted eight permanent members of the municipal board, consisting of the following people: Dušan Žugić, Zoran Vučetić, Radosav Krivokapić, Dragutin Žugić, Milenko Vukašinović, Radivoje Đurđevac, Ivan Veković and Slavko Mirjačić. Of the eight, Dušan Žigić was chosen as the municipal board's president, who announced:

The Montenegrin Party will plead and battle for political and other interests of the national association of Montenegrins in Prokluplje and in the Toplica region in its entirety, in that sense, our hand of cooperation will be offered to all democratic political factors. Through every appreciation and respect are we fully open for cooperation, in the aim for protection of our interests and better life for all citizens of the Municipality of Prokuplje.
