ElectionsNew Serbia (Serbian: Нова Србија, Nova Srbija) is a political party in Serbia. It was created in 1997 by a number of dissidents from the Serbian Renewal Movement.
The president of New Serbia is Velimir Ilić, former Minister of Infrastructure in Serbian government from 2007 until 2008. Also, from 2004 until 2007 he was Minister of former Ministry for Capital Investment which was reorganized after 2007 elections.
During the Yugoslav presidential election campaign of 2000 in which Slobodan Milošević would be ousted, New Serbia was part of the Democratic Opposition of Serbia, and won 8 seats in the National Assembly.
The party took part in the 2003 legislative elections in coalition with the Serbian Renewal Movement. The coalition won 7.7% of the popular vote and 22 seats; 9 of seats were allocated to New Serbia.
New Serbia ran on the 2007 elections in a "Populist Coalition" with the Democratic Party of Serbia of Prime Minister Vojislav Koštunica. The coalition won 47 seats, 10 of which went to New Serbia.
