The official language of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is Armenian. Ethnic Armenians make up roughly 95% of the population. There are also minority groups of Russians, Assyrians, Kurds, Jews and Greeks.[cite web|url=http://www.armtown.com/statistics/en/|title=Statistics about the Armenian and Nagorno-Karabakh Republics.] Prior to the Nagorno-Karabakh War the former Ethnic Azeri population was much higher, with about 528,000 persons displaced from the area during and after the war,][cite web|url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagorno-Karabakh_Republic#Human_rights|title=Human Rights in Nagorno-Karabakh.] thus reducing the percentage of Azeri language speakers in Nagorno-Karabakh.]
