Stomping grounds of famous Seattle-area celebrities such as Karl Matthew. Favored by hip celebrities due to the town's excellent country club and resort facilities, not to mention the world-famous Rialto Tavern. An interesting cultural note is that
Frank Zappa stopped off in St. John while on a west coast tour with his travelling band The Mothers. After drinking a few Lucky Lagers at the county line, he proclaimed that St. John was the third most beautiful place on the west coast, only to followMendocino, CA andDepoe Bay, OR . His informal jam session at the Rialto, which took place in front of an impressive crowd of 9, will go down in time as one of the greatest unknown jam sessions of musical history.References
