East Cathlamet is a census-designated place (CDP) in Wahkiakum County, Washington, United States. The population was 491 at the 2000 census.

Geography

East Cathlamet is located at coor dms|46|11|49|N|123|21|47|W|city (46.196988, -123.363141)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.5 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 491 people, 214 households, and 144 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 282.2 people per square mile (109.0/km²). There were 234 housing units at an average density of 134.5/sq mi (51.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.72% White, 1.22% Native American, 0.20% Pacific Islander, 0.81% from other races, and 2.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.02% of the population.

There were 214 households out of which 22.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.5% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.7% were non-families. 26.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.73.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 23.0% under the age of 18, 3.9% from 18 to 24, 19.8% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 28.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.8 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $40,000, and the median income for a family was $51,875. Males had a median income of $50,658 versus $19,519 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $19,372. None of the population or families were below the poverty line.
