Boling-Iago is a census-designated place (CDP) in Wharton County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,271 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Boling-Iago is located at coor dms|29|15|57|N|95|56|40|W|city (29.265768, -95.944378)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.0 square miles (18.1 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 1,271 people, 434 households, and 329 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 182.4 people per square mile (70.4/km²). There were 474 housing units at an average density of 68.0/sq mi (26.3/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 70.42% White, 5.90% African American, 1.34% Native American, 20.14% from other races, and 2.20% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 50.83% of the population.

There were 434 households out of which 39.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.3% were married couples living together, 13.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.0% were non-families. 21.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.37.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 29.6% under the age of 18, 11.3% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 104.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.0 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $28,203, and the median income for a family was $30,547. Males had a median income of $22,212 versus $12,198 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $13,261. About 15.2% of families and 16.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.7% of those under age 18 and 21.4% of those age 65 or over.
