Ferdinando "Nando" Gentile (born January 1, 1967 in Tuoro, Italy) is an Italian retired professional basketball player. Gentile is considered one of the best European Shooting guards of the 1990s.

Professional career
While playing for Juvecaserta Basket, Gentile won the Italian Championship in the 1990/91 season, he won the Italian Cup in the 1987/88 season, played in the Italian Cup final in the 1988/89 season, he played in the Korać Cup final in the 1985/86 season, and he also played in the European Cup Winners' Cup final in the 1988/89 season. In the 1993/1994 season, Gentile was also a Radivoj Korać European Cup finalist while playing for Pallacanestro Trieste.
He also played for Olimpia Milano. Milano's last titles came as the team won both the Italian League and the Italian Cup in the 1995/1996 season with players like Gentile, Dejan Bodiroga and Gregor Fučka.[1] He was also with Olimpia, a 2 time Radivoj Korać European Cup finalist (1994/1995 season and 1995/1996 season) and a Raimundo Saporta European Cup finalist in the 1997/1998 season.
In the 1999/2000 season he won the Euroleague Championship while playing for Panathinaikos. He also won 3 Greek Championships with Panathinaikos (1998/1999, 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 seasons). After being named assistant coach of Lottomatica Roma under Jasmin Repeša, on 9 December 2008 he was appointed as head coach of the club after the resignation of Repeša.[2] On 14 December 2009 he resigned in turn.

Gentile's son, Alessandro is also a professional basketball player playing for Benetton Treviso.
