Patton Village is a city in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,391 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Patton Village is located at coor dms|30|11|47|N|95|10|32|W|city (30.196414, -95.175422)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.3 km²), of which, 1.9 square miles (5.0 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (6.83%) is water.

It is also reputed to be the worst speed trap in Texas.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 1,391 people, 476 households, and 348 families residing in the city. The population density was 725.9 people per square mile (279.7/km²). There were 531 housing units at an average density of 277.1/sq mi (106.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 91.23% White, 0.50% African American, 0.86% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 4.67% from other races, and 2.66% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.14% of the population.

There were 476 households out of which 41.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.7% were non-families. 20.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.92 and the average family size was 3.41.

In the city the population was spread out with 32.1% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 95.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $32,619, and the median income for a family was $35,093. Males had a median income of $32,212 versus $19,375 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,462. About 22.5% of families and 23.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 29.4% of those under age 18 and 11.2% of those age 65 or over.

Education

Patton Village residents are zoned to schools in the Splendora Independent School District.
