As of the
census GR|2 of2000 , there were 2,833 people, 744 households, and 647 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 4,814.8 people per square mile (1,853.9/km²). There were 816 housing units at an average density of 1,386.8/sq mi (534.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 65.58% White, 0.56% African American, 0.95% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 29.97% from other races, and 2.82% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 95.66% of the population.There were 744 households out of which 54.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.0% were married couples living together, 20.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.0% were non-families. 11.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.81 and the average family size was 4.17.
In the town the population was spread out with 38.5% under the age of 18, 11.0% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 15.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 25 years. For every 100 females there were 89.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.3 males.
