History
The College of Engineering predates the current campus, having been founded in 1946 at the [ [http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/specialcoll/ua/pdf/Engineering_history.pdf University Archives - Engineering History] ] .
The college is recognized for its academic excellence with undergraduate and graduate programs in six academic departments.Fact|date=October 2008 The College has 114 faculty members: two are members of the National Academy of Engineering; 40 are Fellows of their professional societies; 20 are National Science Foundation CAREER or Presidential Young Investigator Award winners; and, more than 10 are editors of major research journals.
Research programs in the college have grown rapidly over the years and are conducted in 6 departments and 7 interdisciplinary centers. During 2007-2008, the total research expenditure for the College of Engineering was more than $21 million.
