This is an incomplete list of notable people associated with the University of Illinois at Chicago in the United States of America.

Faculty

* Bill Ayers, professor of education. A 1960s-era political activist and former member of the domestic terrorism organization Weather Underground. Ayers is the author of a number of books on the teaching profession and is active in progressive campaigns for school reform.
* Ahmed Belkaoui, Professor of Accounting. Very well known in the Accounting field. Has been an Author of over 125 published books.
* Daniel Bernstein, professor, department of math, statistics and computer science. Author of qmail and djbdns. A multiple NSF grant winner and Sloan Foundation fellow, Bernstein is also distinguished for his work in the fields of cryptography and computer security.
* Ananda Chakrabarty, Distinguished professor of microbiology. Created the oil-eating bacterium used during the Gulf War. Special adviser to the US government and United Nations.
* John D'Emilio, professor, department of gender and women studies, department of history. A leading scholar of gay and lesbian history, D'Emilio's work was cited by Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy in his 2003 majority opinion when the court struck down a Texas law that criminalized sodomy.
* Stanley Fish, Dean Emeritus of College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Has published many articles and books, is a renowned scholar on Milton, and is a sometimes controversial figure in academia.
* Stedman Graham, Specializes in the field of Management. Public speaker on leadership and motivation. Owner of successful consulting company. Significant other of Oprah Winfrey.
* Gerald Graff, professor, department of English. A respected literary critic, particularly on the subject of pedagogy.
* Paul J. Griffiths, Arthur J. Schmitt Professor of Catholic Studies and Chair, department of classics and mediterranean studies. A leading scholar in the fields of religious and Catholic studies, with a specialization in Augustine, Buddhist thought, and religious diversity.
* Steve Jones, professor, department of communication, associate dean of social sciences. A noted scholar of the internet, he is the UIC professor most widely quoted in the media. He co-founded the Association of Internet Researchers, co-edits the journal, "New Media and Society," and edits several book series on new media. He is senior research fellow at the Internet and American Life Project of the Pew Charitable Trusts.
* Louis Kauffman, professor of Mathematics. Most famous for the introduction and development of the bracket polynomial and Kauffman polynomial in Knot Theory. He is the founding editor and one of the managing editors of the "Journal of Knot Theory and its Ramifications", and editor of the "World Scientific Book Series On Knots and Everything". He writes a column entitled Virtual Logic for the journal "Cybernetics and Human Knowing". In 2007 he was president of the American Society for Cybernetics. He is the 1993 recipient of the Warren McCulloch award of the American Society for Cybernetics
* Charles King, professor, department of marketing. Created King's Law in the field of Marketing. One of the nation's foremost experts on network marketing companies such as NuSkin, Avon, Amway, Quixtar, Pre-Paid Legal, PriMerica Financial, and ACN. Runs a successful independent consulting company of his own. Former consultant to Hugh Hefner and Playboy.
* J. Kurish, Professor of Finance. Very well known in the field of Finance. Professor Kurish has often appeared on NBC, CLTV, CBS for his expertise. He is consulted by many in the field of Finance, including The Wall Street Journal.
* Deirdre McCloskey, Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Well-known for her analysis of economic rhetoric and her critique of the role of statistical significance in economics.
* Walter Benn Michaels, professor and chair, department of English. A respected literary critic, particularly for his work on identity studies and American culture. He is also well known for the article Against Theory, which appeared in Critical Inquiry.
* John Miller, Associate Professor in Finance. Former Director of Quantitative Research at Citadel Investment Group LLC.
* S. Jay Olshansky, professor of epidemiology, UIC School of Public Health. He is a biodemographer known for his research on the upper limits to human aging and longevity and his efforts to inform the public about products that claim to reverse or stop the aging process. Olshansky is the lead author of "The Quest for Immortality: Science at the Frontiers of Aging," the recipient of two Independent Science Awards from the National Institute on Aging, and a Fulbright Senior Specialist.
* Joseph Persky, Professor of Economics. Appointed to Counsel of Economic Advisors with the state of Illinois.
* Ram Ramakrishnan, Ernst & Young LLP Professor and Department Head of Accounting.
* Dick Simpson, professor of political science. One of Chicago's most active politicians, he is responsible for over half a million dollars in grants, and the author of four widely acclaimed books on government. He is also known for campaigning against former Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley, as well as his son (and present Chicago Mayor), Richard M. Daley.
* Jay Taparia, Professor of Finance. Founder and Principle of Sanskar Investments. Author of "Understanding Financial Statements" published by Marion Street Press.

* Michael G. Turnbull, 1973. Assistant Architect of the Capitol in Washington, DC, previously head of the Department of Design and Construction at the Art Institute of Chicago.
* Adrian Smith, Partner at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP. Designed the Trump Tower Chicago, Burj Dubai and Jin Mao Tower.
