Lake City is a town in Marshall County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 47 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Lake City is located at coor dms|45|43|26|N|97|24|50|W|city (45.723790, -97.413936)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²), of which, 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²) of it is land and 4.55% is water.

Lake City has been assigned the ZIP code 57247 and the FIPS place code 35220.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 47 people, 19 households, and 9 families residing in the town. The population density was 216.5 people per square mile (82.5/km²). There were 26 housing units at an average density of 119.8/sq mi (45.6/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 100.00% White.

There were 19 households out of which 36.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.4% were married couples living together, 5.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 47.4% were non-families. 47.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 31.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.80.
