1990 UK Snooker Championship
- 1990 UK Snooker Championship
The 1990 StormSeal UK Championship took place at the Guildhall, Preston in November and TV stages shown on BBC TV took place between 24 November and 2 December 1990.
The final turned out to be one of the greatest finals when the two giants of the game, defending UK and reigning World Champion Stephen Hendry and 6 times UK and 6 times World Champion Steve Davis met each other in the final again. Hendry led 7-2 before Davis had a good lead at the final session. Then Hendry won the title with a break of 98 to become the second player (and so far the last apart from 3 titles between 1994 and 1996) to retain the UK title.
Hendry beat in the semi-final to 19 year old fellow Scot, Alan McManus who was in his first season 9-5. McManus had just beaten Dennis Taylor, Steve Newbury, Silvino Francisco and Jimmy White to make the semis while Nigel Bond who was a finalist the Grand Prix (snooker) a month previously made it to the quarter-finals losing to Davis.
