CIHT is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts a CHR format at 89.9 on the FM dial in Ottawa, Ontario under the branding HOT 89.9. The station is owned and operated by Newcap Broadcasting.

The station is known for its wacky and original promos which include, "The Hot 89.9 MILF club", worldwide exclusives on celebrity pictures, used pregnancy tests and more.

In June 2005, the station broadcast the wedding of Lynn and Alex from "The Amazing Race 7".

Two of its morning hosts, "Mauler and Rush", host Newcap's nationally syndicated Canadian Hit 30.

History

HOT 89.9 first aired on February 7, 2003 under a Rhythmic CHR format (Although it was licensed by the CRTC to be programmed as a Dance music outlet when Newcap was awarded the frequency in 2001), but due to the need for a CHR station when Kool 93.9 flipped to 93.9 Bob FM, Ottawa was without a pop music station. On January 2004, when 105.3 Kiss FM signed on, they decided to tweak their format to appeal to a wider audience. This move caused a lot of problems to listeners as they felt that HOT 89.9 was just looking for an increase in profits.
