It allows consumers to compare prices on flights, hotels, and car rentals. It aggregates the results from over 180 online travel agencies, consolidators, and ticket vendors to show a side-by-side comparison of the best deals found on the web. It then redirects the visitor to the site with the best rates. Mobissimo makes it money through advertisements so it circumvents the need to mark up its quoted prices to earn a profit. Mobissimo responds to customer inquires on a day-by-day basis to help the site perform optimally.

The site was founded in 2004 with one million USD of seed financing from Benhamou Global Ventures, Cambrian Ventures and Index Ventures. It has recently been rated the third most popular travel meta-search engine in the United States.
Media
Mobissimo has recently garnered attention in the media for its low fares and groundbreaking approach to travel booking. In the past year it has been written about in several print and Internet news publications. The Chicago Tribune quoted it as one of the “3 Leading Search Engines” for travel.[1] It was also said to “out execute” their main competitor, Kayak, by TechCrunch.[2] Google also "expressed interest in Mobissimo and their innovative price comparison models.[3]
