During the mid-1990s the big pull to this area was the Massaponax Outlet Center, home to a number of retail outlet chains. During 2004 development began, and soon a large number of retail chain store such as Best Buy, and Target along with, restaurants such as Red Robin began to appear in the new Cosner's Corner shopping center.
Also during this time Massaponax began to develop into a large residential community. With mid to upper class homes at an estimated cost of $250,000 to $500,000 according to tax assessments done by Spotsylvania County.
