- TVCatchup
TVCatchup was an online service for recording certain UK freeview channels.
BBC1 ,ITV and Five are among the list of channels which can be recorded. It is quite different from BBC iPlayer and ITV's catch-up feature in that you are able to browse a TV listings guide, viewing seven days ahead, and record that episode. Users are also able to create a series-link so that all future broadcasts of their favorite soap, documentary etc will automatically be recorded. Unlike BBC iPlayer, users are not able to download the programs to their PC and following 60 days after the recording it will be removed.History
As of 16th February 2008, visitors to the site are confronted with the following message:Dear Member
In recent days, TVCatchup has become aware of the Broadcaster's (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five) increasing concerns over the free personal recording functionality that this website offers.
On 15th February, our hosting was terminated without warning and we presume this was at the request of such Broadcasters.
Given that this will no doubt happen again, TVCatchup has therefore voluntarily suspended its services whilst the concerns of the Broadcasters are addressed.
We apologise to all for this temporary interruption to service.
This page will provide a service update as matters progress.
