The pond took its name from settler Nathaniel Walker, a
carpenter , and his wife Submit Brewer Walker, who built a house on the north end of the pond in 1748 and raised twelve children there. According to a 1980 survey, the pond contains largemouth bass, chain pickerell, yellow perch, white perch, bluegill, pumpkinseed, brown bullhead, white suckers, and golden and bridled shiners. It is a popular place for ice fishing.
