Band Bio

Both born in 1987, Young and McIntosh attended The Friends’ School together, taking great interest in audio design, which they both studied, creating tracks while “mucking around on an old guitar and crap drums”. Drawing on influences such as Air and Daft Punk, Young and McIntosh spent some of their hard-earned savings on eBay, purchasing synthesisers, vocoders and various musical toys, to begin creating their electronic sound. They began by playing at local gigs, including a guest appearance at a local Battle of the Bands competition. They quickly gained a following amongst Hobart fans, and by the end of 2006, they were appearing on the field stage at the Tasmanian installment of the Falls Festival, as well as Melbourne's ‘Click Click’ New Year Party. As well as a valuable performing experience, they were able to reach a greater Tasmanian audience, and in 2007, they performed in Launceston at MS Fest, drawing a large crowd to the secondary stage. The band’s biggest release came later in 2007, with the release of their 7-track EP "Electronic Sunset", under Melbourne independent label "Rubber Records". A track remixed by one The Scientists of Modern Music also appeared on the debut EP. The pair also played at Hobart’s Southern Roots Festival with the likes of Wolfmother and The Pixies. They performed again at Falls Festival 2007 to welcome in the new year, this time in both Tasmania and Victoria, and appeared at the Soundscape Festival on Australia Day, before embarking on their first Australian tour with Melbourne dance act Dukes of Windsor.
