The Calling of the Gods
According to writings, out of the chaos the Highgod appeared, and designed a world. He wrote his thoughts in the Tobril, the book of all knowledge. To achieve his plans, he created beings similar to himself called gods, who though powerful, were not as great as the Highgod. Of all the gods who were created, Chaos was the greatest. His fellow gods who were created included Takhisis, Queen of Dragons, Paladine, King of Dragons, and Gilean. The Highgod gave the Tobril to Gilean and taught him never to relinquish it. He became the Keeper of the Tobril, also known as the Keeper of the Book[who?].
Chaos's Interference
The Highgod's position at this point is mysterious; little is known[vague]. Chaos became obsessed with ruling the universe and tried to create the world designed by the Highgod in his own image. This was not possible since evil could not create but just destroy or corrupt. Trying to change the Tobril to his making, Chaos was eventually defeated by Paladine and his siblings and forced to wander in the Beyond. While there, he persuaded himself that he in truth was the creator of the universe and the father of the gods. He fashioned himself the title Chaos, Father of All and of Nothing. Although defeated, Chaos was far from beaten. He eventually created a dominance in which he saw himself as the father to the gods. The gods could not truly defeat Chaos since he fed off of the disorder and chaos existing in the universe. But they separated themselves from him and existed in a certain alternate dimension[original research?].
Before Chaos had been eventually defeated, he planted a seed of his evil into one of the three siblings, Takhisis. Takhisis became perverted like Chaos and became the leading evil deity in the universe.
The three siblings, Paladine, Gilean, and Takhisis, each saw that in order to gain power, they had to implement the plan set out by the Highgod in the Tobril[who?]. Nevertheless, they were scared of Chaos enough to think twice about defying him.
More Gods
By this time, many fellow gods had also joined the three siblings and the other gods created by the Highgod. Many of them included: Majere, Mishakal, Branchala, Sirrion, Reorx, Chislev, Zivilyn, Shinare, Sargonnas, Morgion, Chemosh, and Hiddukel. Many others also crossed over from the Beyond, but are considered lesser beings[who?]. Each of these gods took sides in the three orders: Good, Neutrality, and Evil. Paladine became the leader for the good gods, Gilean took over the neutral gods, and Takhisis took control of the evil gods. Many gods chose consorts and some gods were created as the children. Paladine and Mishakal gave birth to Kiri-Jolith, Habbakuk, and Solinari. Gilean, though his consort is unknown, is the father of Lunitari. And Takhisis and Sargonnas birthed Zeboim and Nuitari[original research?].
The Creation of the World
Unknown to Chaos, Takhisis asked support from her fellow gods to create the world without taking Chaos's permission[who?]. She tricked her two siblings by telling them that, by creating a world, the spirits which had been merely placidly existing in the universe would have some purpose. Paladine wanted the spirits to have bodies to be free under the side of good. Gilean wanted the let the spirits choose between the sides of good and evil to see what happened to them. Takhisis, however, wanted to make slaves of the spirits to give herself more power.
To create the world, the three siblings called for help, and Reorx, the forge, answered with the ability to fashion what they required. Out of gods, Reorx created a hammer, and with it, began ordering the chaos, creating the stars, and the world of Krynn[original research?].
When Chaos found out about the "plaything" of his children, he grew angry due to their rebelliousness. In order to punish them, he created the dragons who he gave the gifts of long-life, natural magical ability, and breath weapons. Takhisis grew possessive of them and corrupted them, creating the dragons of evil, also known as the chromatic dragons (red, blue, white, black and green)[original research?].
Paladine was saddened by the loss and with the help of Reorx created statues of the lost dragons with metal. Paladine decided to give them life, creating the dragons of good, also known as the metallic dragons (gold, silver, brass, bronze and copper)[original research?].
The All-Dragons War
The All-Dragons War was a great war fought between Takhisis's corrupted dragons, the Chromatic Dragons (red, white, blue, black, and green) and Paladine's Metallic Dragons (gold, silver, bronze, brass, and copper), created to counter Takhisis. The war ravaged the world of Krynn and the gods withdrew as to not destroy it completely. Upon withdrawing, they noticed the stars and grew covetous of them[original research?].
All-Saints War
The All-Saints War had begun over how the spirits in the heavens should be ruled, and horrible storms ravaged the world of Krynn until the Highgod interceded. Paladine pledged to nevermore enter the world in his full glory. The High God, the true father of the gods, broke the fighting and told the gods they were all to create life and bless the creatures with one gift. The gods of good grant them the gift of desire to control, the god of evil the gift of ambition, and the gods of neutrality the gift of free will. This led to the creation of elves, humans, and ogres, the first life on Krynn. In addition, the gods of magic were born at the end of the War[original research?].
