Phansidewa is a community development block, police station and an assembly constituency in Darjeeling district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Geography

Demographics

In the 2001 census, Phansidewa community development block, spread over 336.56 km², had a population of 171,384 out of which 87,897 were males and 83,487 were females. Decadal growth for the period 1991-2001 was 22.38% for Phansidewa, against 23.54% in Darjeeling district. Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84%. Politics

In the 2006 elections to the state assembly, Chhotan Kisku of CPI(M) won the Phansidewa seat, reserved for scheduled tribes, defeating Mamla Kujur of INC. Prokash Minj of CPI(M) defeated Mamla Kujur of INC in 2001, Chabilal Minj of INC in 1996 and Iswar Chandra Tirkey of INC in 1991 and 1987.
